The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has chosen Inpro as a 2021 Recycling Excellence Award winner.

The company was recognized as an Overall Program awardee for two major initiatives.  First, implementing a more robust recycling program and increasing product yields to produce less scrap.  Inpro is operating at a 79.4% overall diversion rate based on production efficiencies, and internal recycling of PVC, metals, and comingled materials. And second, an initiative on the “consumer” side of the recycling program by conducting a Waste Audit to understand progress toward waste reduction goals, and benchmark the disposal activities of employees.

“While the overall reductions are fantastic, for us the most exciting part of these results were the modifications to our production processes that eliminated waste,” said Mark Alan, Inpro’s senior vice president of product management and development.  “In other words, there was no scrap to divert because it was never created in the first place.  These process improvements amounted to 42.3 tonnes that never entered the waste stream.”

The Recycling Excellence Awards celebrate outstanding recycling efforts, innovation and performance throughout Wisconsin. Communities, organizations, schools and businesses—both small and large—are eligible and encouraged to apply for recognition of recent recycling and waste diversion initiatives.
